This tip apply to vqME, the email security platform for
individual users. If you use vqNow, see this tip instead

Configuring Outlook

In Outlook 2007, click Tools » Account Settings. Select an email account and click Change.
In earlier versions, Click Tools » Email Accounts » View or Change » Change
  • Email Address (upper left): Your name and regular email address. Recipients see this as your From address).
Type either your vqME address or your regular email address. It must be one from your protected address list.
  • User Name: you@vqme.com (use your vqME Profile address even if sending under your regular email address)
  • Both servers on right (POP3 and SMTP): www.vqme.com [Why change my outgoing server?]
  • Click More Settings » Outgoing Server. Place a mark next to the first 2 items
  • On the Advanced tab, set Outgoing SMTP server to Port 587 (POP server port remains 110)
  • Further down on the Advanced tab, slide the timer setting to 2 minutes
To save these settings, click OK or Next » Finish. Outlook may continue to ask for your password. In this case, reboot your PC. Outlook has a nasty habit of occasionally showing one set of account information, but using previous information that no longer appears in your settings. While, the obvious solution is to restart Outlook, it also fails to close completely, because of the Windows Messenger component. Rebooting the PC often forces Outlook to re-synchronize configuration data.

Configuring Outlook Express or Windows Mail

Click Tools » Accounts. Under the Mail headeing, select an email account and click Properties » Server tab
  • Incoming POP3 Server...www.vqme.com
  • Outgoing SMTP Server...www.vqme.com [Why change my outgoing server?]
  • Account Name................"you"@vqme.com (use your vqME password)
  • Server requires authentication..(Yes-Check this)
  • On the Advanced tab, set Outgoing SMTP server to Port 587 (POP server port remains 110)
  • Log on using secure.......(Do not check this)
  • Further down on the Advanced tab, slide the timer setting to 2 minutes
Be sure to configure these settings for any program "personalities" that accesses a Vanquish protected email address. That's it! Send yourself a message to each protected address and check the mail. You should see a grey and red Control Stripe at the top of the message. If this is not the primary PC from which you access mail, check the option "Leave Mail on Server" (or UNcheck the option "Delete Mail on Server). More details here.
